Lorna Murdock Holt and John L Holt
Your Hosts
Lorna was born in British Columbia, Canada and lives in Ketchikan, Alaska with her husband John. She graduated from Prairie Bible College in 1992, got married that same year and moved to Ketchikan with her husband where she taught school until they began a family. She spent the next 26 years as a full-time mom, raising and homeschooling their four children and teaching music lessons part time. In 2010 she was widowed and remained a single mom for seven years until marrying again in 2017. Lorna and John are recent empty nesters and currently lead a grief recovery ministry in Ketchikan, as well as teach piano, fiddle, and guitar lessons to children and adults in their community. In her free time Lorna enjoys outdoor activities such as fishing and hiking, and spending time with friends. She especially loves the times when she can gather with her husband, kids and brand-new grandson and enjoy family time together. Lorna is pursuing a Master of Arts in Counseling from the Townsend Institute and will graduate upon completion of an internship in August of 2021.
John holds a PhD in behavioral neuroscience and biopsychology and has held positions at the National Institutes of Health, Pfizer Inc., and the University of Hawaii Medical School. Since his retirement in 2018 he has been busy remodeling the retreat home and developing the property. This has included building the pier, float, deck and cabins. He is actively involved in several ministries including praise and worship (he plays guitar and upright bass), grief, leadership, and marriage. His other interests include hunting, fishing, chainsaw milling, woodworking, and reading.
